Welcome to ERC Evolution

Today is the official launch of ERC Evolution. As an organisation, we thank you for taking the time to come to our website and for reading this post. As the General Manager, I would also like to extend my personal thanks.

The energy transition means different things for different people. For some, it is a call to climate activism. For others, it is a mountain of technological, regulatory and policy challenges that must be climbed.

The ERCE Group of which ERC Evolution is part, is an employee-owned organisation. For us, the energy transition is an opportunity to challenge ourselves in how we can support energy security, the need for new energy sources, and the need for each organisation to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. We looked to our key skills in the areas of geoscience, engineering, economics, technical auditing, project finance and stakeholder engagement, and how we can use this expertise to support the next generation of energy projects. From this collective desire, ERC Evolution has been formed.

The name reflects our recognition that stakeholder expectations are evolving and we, as an organisation, will evolve too. The efforts of researchers, innovators, activists, and policy makers over the previous decades have laid a foundation for change. There is now the will and technical capability to deliver new energy systems and to materially reduce the carbon footprint of businesses. However, projects must be executed at a momentous pace and scale to achieve 2050 net zero targets.

At ERC Evolution, our objective is to use our organisational knowledge to help deliver these energy transition projects. For over 20 years ERCE has worked with operators, governments, stock exchanges, private equity, lending banks and pension funds during industrial project life cycles. Our experience has given us a huge appreciation of the challenges, risks and uncertainties in executing projects. Importantly, this experience has allowed us to develop the skills to identify, quantify and describe these challenges and relate them objectively to stakeholders.

As industry, the finance community, government, and the public work together to build the next generation of energy projects, trust will be paramount. To gain that trust, all these stakeholders will need to be aware of all the risks and uncertainties, opportunities and barriers that exist. This awareness will enable the difficult conversations necessary for developers to gain the social license, regulatory permits and financing required to execute projects.

ERC Evolution is excited to present four initial product lines, which we will hope will grow in time. These include:

These services leverage our expertise in international technical auditing, the ability of our geoscientists and engineers to model the subsurface, and our team’s knowledge of project costs and economics. We bring a wealth of expertise and hands on experience to each of these services, and would love to share our experience with you.

For those who are already familiar with the ERCE Group, please reach out. We look forward to reconnecting with you regarding these dedicated services.

For those of you new to ERC Evolution, we hope to hear from you soon. If the past year, with the challenges of Covid-19, has taught us anything, it’s the importance of human connections and how much we learn from engaging with each other. We cannot wait to meet you.

Yours Truly
