This two half-day introductory course can be tailored to a range of audiences – from companies starting out on their journey to a greener future, to those with an established GHG inventory but questions as to next steps.
The workshop involves a series of presentations from the ERC Evolution team and is interspersed with interactive online whiteboard sessions where your team can get involved with the decision making and direction of the workshop. By the end of the two days, you will have identified your company’s next steps and have a timeline to devise a Climate Action strategy.
Learning Process and Outcomes
Day 1 (4 hours): We will discuss what emissions your company needs to report on. This topic will include an overview of a GHG inventory system and its different components, operational and equity reporting boundaries, and classification of emission into scope 1, 2 and 3 buckets. There will then be an interactive whiteboard exercise where everyone will suggest emission sources and discuss which scope these may fall into. We will then go on to discuss the different international reporting standards including GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 as well as industry specific standards relevant to your company. Once you have selected a standard, the next question will be where to report to. We will discuss in detail the different voluntary ESG reporting standards and which is most relevant to your company when considering your company values and stakeholder expectations.
Day 2 (4 hours): We will begin by discussing the inner workings of different emission trading schemes and carbon tax systems around the world and how these may impact your company. After that, we will dive into the rationale behind net zero and carbon neutrality and what it really means to commit to one or the other. Finally, we will discuss carbon offsets and voluntary emissions trading and how these may be beneficial to your company. At the end of Day 2, we will summarise the results of the workshop including the next steps for your company on your journey to reducing your carbon footprint.
The course is aimed at a beginner – intermediate level audience and can be tailored to suit your company’s needs.
